Traditional BIA devices (that’s Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) only offer one cylinder measurements of the whole body. The InBody offers 5 independent cylinders to more accurately assess the water, proteins, minerals, and fats that make up the human body. The reason? Our torsos can make up more than 50% of our total body weight, but it has a different cross-sectional area than our limbs. Why would we want to measure those the same? We wouldn’t!
The InBody is able to more accurately measure intracellular and extracellular water with the use of multiple broadband frequencies (usually in the range of 1kHz to 1000 kHz), as opposed to the singular frequency of former BIA methods(50 kHz)
The InBody has a total of eight electrode points for the user to interact with, with two on each hand and foot. We modified the existing design to allow for posture changes during multiple tests, including our patented thumb electrode.
Traditional BIA devices statistical variables like age, gender, or body type. These were factored in to compensate for earlier methods’ inaccuracy. Since the InBody utilizes Direct Impedance Measurement, eight-point electrodes, and multi-frequency measurements, the data is accurate without the use of antiquated statistical variables.
